No, I’m not flipping pancakes, but I am at IHOP in Kansas City, Missouri. And yes, it could’ve only been the hand of God to have uprooted me from my hometown just outside of New York City and replant me in the middle of nowheresville.

In August 2006, after finishing graduate school just outside of Boston, I came to be part of the International House of Prayer (IHOP) Missions Base in Kansas City, Missouri. As its name states, IHOP is a house of prayer that seeks to establish the dwelling place of the Lord in the spirit of the tabernacle of David (Psalm 132). Moreover, as a missions organization, IHOP staunchly adheres to the Great Commission. At the heart of the base is its 24/7 prayer and worship ministry, comprised of intercessory missionaries who labor for the release of the Harvest both locally and in the nations (Matthew 9:37-38) through a lifestyle dedicated to continual prayer and fasting as well as living out the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7).

This “prayer furnace” fuels all the other branches of the missions base, which include its administrative offices as well as the following:

  1. an outreach ministry that tends to the poor, sick, needy, and the lost through its extensive healing, homeless, and evangelism ministries;
  2. training programs, which include but are not limited to a Bible school, music academy, and world missions institute that seek to train apostolic and prophetic preachers, singers, musicians, and missionaries to be sent to the nations;
  3. short-term mission trips to assist and serve other missionary works across the globe;
  4. long-term missionary assignments both within North America and overseas in places throughout the planet.

One Response to “You’re where?!”

  1. awe struck Says:

    wow … unreal. Imagine this: a young studious girl from HP who got all A’s and never missed a class; grows up to be a blogging agent of God. I heard the stories, but I had to see it to believe it. Tell Kofi I said “Hi” next time you see him ;)
