I can say with absolute conviction in my heart and spirit that God has called me to be an intercessor as my primary vocation in life. I believe that intercession is the vehicle by which God establishes the government structure of His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Through intercession, we are granted the glorious privilege of partnering with the Holy God in the execution of His sovereign will as we prayerfully proclaim His Word as pronounced in the Scriptures. From this divinely endorsed position of partnership, we actively wait upon the Lord, take heart, and bear witness to the administration of His speedy justice throughout the world (Luke 18:7-8). Hence, an intercessory missionary is one whom God sets on the wall of prayer as one who would give the Lord no rest—night or day—until the passionate desires and jealous zeal of His heart is executed and established all over the earth (Isaiah 62:6-7). And it is in the place of prayer that Jesus taught us to contend for the Kingdom and will of God to break into our earthly reality. (Matthew 6:10).

In addition to engaging in the government of God, for me, an intercessory missionary is committed to establishing the first commandment (Deuteronomy 6:5) to first place by standing as priests before God, ministering to His heart first and foremost so that the fire on His altar will never go out (Leviticus 6:13). Along these lines, it is about Joel 2:17: “Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’” I believe it is only from ministering to the heart of God through prayer and fasting that we can enter into the burden of His heart for His people. In other words, I believe the first commandment naturally births a commitment to the second commandment of loving our neighbors (Mark 12:29-31). And as we tarry in the place of prayer, we wait for the Promise of God to be ones sent to the ends of the earth with apostolic power on the Gospel (Luke 24.29).

So, there you go: my mission in life is to make intercession. That’s how I roll, yo!

    Dear Sarah,

My wife Nancy and I finished Intro at IHOP in Jan. We have returned to Iowa and our prayer room is the Hay-mow of a large barn on our property. We pray there in the mornings.
When we were at Ihop we made friends with a Korean young man named Jin-yong and had him home for thanksgiving. This summer-July 9th-25th we will be visiting him in Korea. We have a friendship with him, but aside from that we just belive God wants us there for some purpose.
I would love to team with several emerging houses of prayer in Korea and pray for them and there leaders on daily basis. Do you have any suggestions how to go about this?

    Blessings,
    David
